Wedding fever and movie fanatics

This was the best day...no question about it. I came across this picture on my computer a few minutes ago and just thought I'd share :)

And just in case you're wondering, tonight we are going to see Wreck-it Ralph...FO FREE! We heard it was cute and don't really have anything going tonight so we said, "alright, we'll go." Basically we can go to any movie we want any time we want and pay nadda. That's just how we roll. So long dollar movies!

Christmas is here!

The Gilsters got their first real Christmas tree together! Last year we didn't get one at all because we were going to be out of town for the weeks before and after Christmas. But this year we said, "Screw it, we want a Christmas tree and we want our little apartment to smell like Christmas!" And I'm so glad we got one :) Our living room is a little small, but it works!

I love coming home to a Christmas-decorated house! I also love coming home to fresh squeezed orange juice. Daniel's mom sent us home from California with a bag of delicious oranges right from her back yard. California and Utah oranges just don't compare. Yesterday Daniel squeezed us a whole pitcher-full of fresh juice that I have constantly been devouring ever since.

Christmas and oranges/orange juice go hand in hand for me. Every year on Christmas morning we go over to my grandma's house and she never fails to have a big basket out full of yummy, juicy tangerines that we easily peel and eat while opening presents together. I am so looking forward to that!

Happy Wednesday!

California and back...

We were very pleased when we found out my family was spending Thanksgiving at home this year. Last year they all came up here and we spent it in freezing cold Utah and I didn't like it at all.

So Daniel, Sidney and I packed up and headed for the 15 freeway. And then we stayed on the 15 freeway for a good 10 hours. Ohh I love those road trips.

Now besides the fact that I was a sicky the whole time I was there, Thanksgiving week/weekend was a success! I love my family and I love food.

The first day my family + Paige's boyfriend Mike went down to Coronado (OBSESSED) to ride bikes and have a delicious Italian dinner together. I always love our family bike rides.

The next day was Thanksgiving which we spent at my grandma Reilly's house.

My good friend Rashall joined us for Thanksgiving dinner which was so fun. Now that we don't get to see each other very often, it is always great catching up when we do! Love her! Oh, and Mr. Shmuck also joined us (inside joke).

Other big news...this little man is now walking!

We ended the night playing the "name game", a classic in our family and then catch phrase. Quality family time is the best! We just missed my Jensen grandparents this year :(

Now it's time to get ready for my favorite holiday, Christmas!

Thursday night...

BREAKING DAWN PART II!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, we saw it. Yes, we saw it at 7:30 in as assigned seating theater instead of waiting in line at midnight on the day of the premier. Did I love it? YES! Do I want to see it at least 3 more times? Of course!!

Hope your Thursday night was as awesome as mine.

P.s....I'm adding one more thing to the bottom of my Christmas list (as if anything else could possibly fit).

Victoria's Secret pajamas. They're cute, comfy, and make your hubby slightly more attracted to you than when you wear your cutest pair of basketball shorts and "Go, Fight, Cheer" t-shirt to bed. Still cute...but just no comparison to VS jammies.

Dear Santa,

I know I get really spoiled around Christmas time and think way too much about my own gifts. That's only because I'm OCD though and think that if I don't repeatedly tell the people I love what I NEED what I want for Christmas that they will forget. I promise I think about giving too but I don't talk about it as much...mostly because I know I won't forget since I already have about 10 different lists of ideas for presents for every single person in both mine and hubby's families (total run-on sentence).  I know Christmas is about giving and about celebrating Christ's birth. I love that part of Christmas too. I also love the decorations, the smell of pine in the home, the family get-togethers, nativity scenes, and the delicious food and yummy cookies and candies. I know this Christmas will be wonderful, just like it always is..

Your friend,

Regan

Spur of the moment Laker game fun!

Last night was not the normal Wednesday night of doing homework until you pass out right there on the couch. Daniel bought tickets to Laker game vs. the Jazz spur of the moment. We made sure all of our homework was done early so that we could forget about school for a few hours in the middle of the week and make a night out of it.

Our plan was to leave early to head up to Salt Lake and shop around Gateway mall for a bit. That plan was a fail as soon as I decided I needed to take a bath and curl my hair before we left.

Pictures!

Then, because I had a really bad experience with some food we bought at the game and didn't end up eating anything for dinner, we got ice cream after :) It's the natural thing to do after a basketball game.

Yum!

The end.

Date nights!

We went on TWO date nights this weekend.

Friday night I curled my hair for the first time since our wedding (so sad, I know) and got all dressed up for dinner.

Our dinner was casual but delicious and fun!

On Saturday we started off the morning right by heading to the gym together. Then we were on our way to Salt Lake to babysit the cutest kids in the world during Trevor's game.

After the game we all went to sushi and then Daniel and I walked around City Creek. It was so pretty at night and romantic walking around with my sweet husband and a Starbucks hot chocolate in hand.

Successful weekend I'd say!

Sunday afternoons

The last two Sunday afternoons have been perfect for tandem bike rides. The weather in Provo has been really nice the last couple of weeks. It got cold and snowy on us for a couple of days but now we're back to enjoying the 60-70 degree sunny breeze. Enjoying it while it lasts that is...

Sunday ride 1...

Sunday ride 2...

We found a fall tree and leaf covered path that went all along this pretty river...

The path took us all the way to beautiful Utah lake just in time to catch the sunset.

We saw cows and horses along the way. My favorite was this gorgeous white horse.

I love Sunday tandem rides!

Gifts!

For our anniversary, Daniel surprised me with a second gorgeous band that matches my wedding band! And when I say "surprised" I mean I hinted at him that I wanted one for the entire first year of our marriage. Ha! I definitely didn't know he was getting me one for sure though.

The reason I waited to mention the rings and didn't post pictures or talk about them in my anniversary trip post is because I didn't actually have them yet. When Daniel first took my wedding band in to get "cleaned" he asked the ring shop to make a second band exactly the same. When he picked it up just before our trip down to San Diego the new band was slightly different. He still wanted to give it to me on our anniversary so he waited until we got back to bring both bands back in so they could fix it. Another reason why I didn't have my bands until now is because my husband is the best, hardest working husband in the world.

What I mean by that is that Daniel traded some landscaping work with the ring shop for both of my bands. He did this incredible paver job at the man who owns the ring shop's house. Daniel got both my wedding band and anniversary band plus some extra money for the trade. He did such an amazing job that the owner wants him to do ANOTHER paver job at his shop. He is such a hard worker and I am so grateful to call him my husband. It makes my bands a lot more special to me knowing how hard Daniel worked for them.

Here are some pictures of the beautiful three rings together:

I got a few compliments in my classes yesterday at school. One girl asked "Regan did you get new bands? Your ring looks stunning!" I told Daniel that which made him proud :-)

Halloween fun!

I had a hard time coming up with a clever couples Halloween costume idea for us this year. So we ended up just winging it last minute and using mostly what we already had on hand.

We decided to be hardcore rock stars. The only thing we needed was some sort of "new hair" for Daniel. His handsome, clean-cut look wasn't going to cut it for the look we were going for.

A Target trip was obviously in store. Below was our first option.

But we decided to go with the second more hardcore option number 2.

He even let me put some black makeup on him and he actually painted his own finger nails black!

I crimped my hair. I love that old crimper (the real reason I wanted to be rock stars).

These pictures were all taken at our ward Halloween party. It was fun!

On actual Halloween night we went to Lindon with some friends for a haunted train ride. It was in this neighborhood and put on by everyone living there. It was so fun and actually pretty scary! Best part...it was free!

Daniel and I ended the night with a delicious cup of hot chocolate...my favorite thing on cold fall and winter nights.
I've become obsessed with this simple but delicious (and fattening) hot cocoa recipe:

1/4 C water
2 TB unsweetened cocoa
2 TB sugar
About 1 1/2 C milk

Put cocoa and sugar in the bottom of mug. Add water and stir. Heat in microwave for 20-25 seconds. Fill mug the rest of the way with milk. Heat in microwave for 1.5 minutes. Stir. Enjoy!

*Note: The original recipe called for 1/4-1 teaspoon of vanilla. I like the more bittery taste of the chocolate without the vanilla though. This recipe is pretty chocolaty. Adjust to your liking! As for me, I can never have too much chocolate in my hot cocoa.
