Thanksgiving and Everything in Between

I've been horrible about being consistent with this blog! It's so hard sometimes to find time for myself where I can just sit down and reflect on what's been happening in my life.

Well, quite a bit has been happening. For starters, my sister and best friend left on an LDS mission to Indonesia. She was in the MTC (Missionary Training Center) for six weeks, and I definitely took the opportunity to see her while she was there, since it's about 10 minutes from my house. I had to be a little sneaky about it, but it was worth it!

She's now in Indonesia and she's loving it! Follow her blog here

One time I even got to bring Nelli and Shayn to see Sid because Daniel and I had a sleepover with them! It was so much fun. We had them for almost 24 hours.

Those girls are too cute!

My family came up here for Thanksgiving, and to see Trevor's last game as a Ute.

And it was senior night for Trevor so we ALL got to go out on the field and cheer for him!

It was a great week/weekend.

Now I'm trying to get through finals as we anxiously wait for Friday to come. We're flying home for a week! I have our home decorated in Christmas...and have tried to stay inside whenever possible. It's been freeezing here!

One of my FAVORITE things to do during Christmas time: turn the Christmas tree lights on, pop in a Christmas movie, and satisfy my constant sweet tooth with these little devils.

Lastly, I just want to brag about how cute and sweet my man is. Recently my phone has been acting up, and it was time for an upgrade so I sold my iPhone 4 and got the new 5s as an early Christmas present! As if that wasn't exciting enough, when we got home I immediately got my new phone all set up and was messing around on it. Then I set it down and went to make dinner, came back over and it was gone. I knew Daniel had taken it and I kept bugging him to give it back to me. I started getting frustrated when he kept telling me I had to find it, and finally he said, "Since it was an early Christmas present, think about where it might be." So I got the hint to look in my stocking and there it was along with this adorable Tory Burch case that he picked out. I just love him!

Happy Holidays everyone!

Alpine Loop

Every year in October since we've lived in Utah, Daniel and I have driven the Alpine Loop to see all the pretty fall colors. We've done it for four years now!

Alpine Loop, October, 2010!

We've definitely made it a tradition and it's something I've looked forward to every fall. Here are some pictures from this year:

Pretty good pictures for using the self timer on my camera, huh?
Happy Halloween!

Short thought

One reason I love my cooking class:

I get to bring the leftovers home and don't have to make dinner on Tuesday nights! Tonight I brought home Chicken Cordon Bleu with steamed carrots and sugar snap peas, and dessert crepes for...well, dessert :) In the class we also made garlic bread and a strawberry/blueberry/spinach smoothie. There were no leftovers to bring home for those but I did recreate the smoothie.

Hope your Tuesday is going well!

Life Lately

The past couple of weeks have been insanely busy for me.

I flew home for Paige's gorgeous wedding.

And then started school literally THE NEXT DAY. My school schedule this semester is not hard...or at least it's not supposed to be hard. I needed to take a few extra credits in order to graduate next April, so I thought, hey, a cooking class would be fun, and how about a sewing class too? Cooking class=best decision I've ever made. Sewing class=could be the worst mistake of my life! Only because I just spent 3 hours in open lab (p.s. it's 11:00 at night!) trying to cut out our first big sewing project (pajama pants). For some people pajama pants would be a sinch. For others, like me, it is much more difficult than it should be. My first project has gone like this: bought fabric. fabric was too short when went to class and laid out pattern. go to open lab with new fabric ad pin my pattern wrong onto fabric. get TA to come sign off on my pinning only to find out the hour and a half I had just spend pinning and adding a few inches in length to my pattern was a waste because I did it wrong. one more hour later and I'm finally heading 10:30pm! Let's just hope I leave the class knowing how to thread the machine at the very least!

On a happier note, I made these beauties in my cooking class the other day :)
Cherry Jam Tarts :)

Two weeks after school started my family came up for Paige's second reception in Utah. It was nice to get my mind off school (but really just the sewing class) for the weekend.

Something else fun that I did last weekend was canning peaches with my grandma! It's something we've done together the last two years and I hope we make it a tradition! This isn't a very good picture, but here are all my cans on top of the cupboards.

And here's a picture from last year.

Today was a beautiful sunny day in Provo. After class I hopped on the scooter to head home. All of a sudden, out of NOWHERE, it starts POURING! Then HAILING! I literally couldn't see a thing while driving the scooter. I was super frustrated at first, but then couldn't help but just smile and laugh. When I finally got home I was drenched. I sent this picture to Daniel.

Another reason to smile today was because it's Sahyn's birthday! Love you Shayn. Happy Birthday!

That's all for now.

Lake Tahoe picture overload

This last week/weekend Daniel and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary in beautiful Lake Tahoe. It was such a fun, and much needed vacation for just the two of us. We relaxed on the beach, played on some water toys, ate great food, and just enjoyed each other's company. As!

The beaches around Lake Tahoe were soo pretty. The water is incredibly blue and CRYSTAL clear...

This is what happens when there is a camera and only two people...Daniel took model shots of me on a private beach we found one evening. Here are a few of them. The others are for Daniel's eyes only ;)

One morning we went to breakfast at this cute place called the Red Hut Cafe...only to find out that there was an ice cream/sundae parlor around back. It became our go-to dessert place while we were there. The sundaes were out of this world! {I'm obsessed with fooood}
(and yes, that's chocolate sauce and melted peanut butter on top. Don't worry, we shared)

Exploring Emerald Bay was probably my favorite thing we did while in Tahoe. We checked out the scenery on the way there, and then hiked down to the beautiful bay. We rented a double kayak for THREE HOURS and just explored. We found some rocks to jump off, and some beautiful beaches to relax on.

We rented a jet ski, which is always a blast. We rented it from Round Hill Pines beach and road 12 miles to Emerald Bay (we loved it there so much). It was a bumpy ride to say the least, but so much fun catching air off boat wakes and getting splashed in the face with that pretty blue water.

On our actual anniversary, Daniel booked a dinner cruise on the US Dixie. The cruise took us around Lake Tahoe, and served a delicious steak dinner. After dinner there was a live band with dancing! So fun! Daniel wanted me to dance with him to EVERY song.

We stayed at the Hyatt in North Lake Tahoe during the last couple nights of our trip. We ended up LOVING the peacefulness on the North Shore, compared to the more crowded, party lifestyle of South Lake Tahoe. On our last day we hung out at the Hyatt's private beach and took a pedal boat out (those things are slow as molasses). Check out this gatorade blue, crystal clear water!

Daniel loved relaxing under the cabana.

There was a beautiful sunset that night and we couldn't help but take one more picture together!

ok, maybe two more...

It's crazy how fast two years went by! I'm so happy we were able to go on this little vacation together.
