Summer Job

I was so happy when I found out I had gotten the summer job I applied for last winter semester. About 10 people from my major applied for it and only 4 of us were picked. It's good money and basically the funnest job ever. I wish I could do it all year round!

Basically, I get to hang out with a bunch of cute 7-10 year-olds while doing ropes courses, zip lines, alpine slides, gymnastics, freestyle ski-jumping into a pool, and many more fun activities! Each week there is a different "main" sport for the different groups of kids who come. That sport is what we focus on in addition to all of the other fun activities I mentioned. A couple of weeks ago it was tennis/swim. So we went to the Park City Rec Center and the four of us counselors played a game of doubles tennis and laid out by the pool while the kids were being coached by tennis and swim instructors. Not a bad way to be getting paid! Oh, and in the meantime I've fallen in love with Park City. If I had to live in Utah permanently, it would be there! The summers are amazing and I just love the people there and everything about it.

This week our sport was sailing and today was our first day out on the lake. It was my first experience sailing and I have developed a new found LOVE for it. It's so peaceful and relaxing, but exciting at the same time! I got to "steer" today. It was such a thrill!

How cute is this little girl? she is what we call a "repeat offender", meaning she has returned for multiple weeks of the camp.

Loving life on the ropes course/zip line

Next week is my last week! Even though I graduate in April and should probably find a more professional job that will turn into a career next summer, I think I'm coming back for round 2!

The 4th

So after our amazing California trip, we only had to wait a couple of weeks before we got to see my family AGAIN. Can you tell I am such a home body? I just love my family like a lot.

They came up for the 4th and brought that beauty of a lime green boat of theirs (which is actually a sore subject...we beached it onto a sand/rock bar about an hour into the first day on the lake). Of course, even without a boat the next few days, we made the best of things and had a good time. Pictures as always:

Before my family got here, Daniel and I decided to hike up to Stewart Falls one night on the week of the 4th. It was a gorgeous hike!

{Daniel like to take close-ups/artsy pictures of me. Not really a fan, but the waterfall looks pretty sweet!}

Then another night that week we had a Cafe Rio picnic in the park. I tried snapping some pictures of our actual picnic, but while I was trying to figure out a focusing issue with my camera, Daniel ran out of patience and started eating...then my camera died :(

On the third we went to a BBQ at the Stecklings (below are Paige and Mike) and then walked over to a golf course near their house and watched a pretty awesome firework show.

And on the 4th we went to another dinner in Bountiful (courtesy of the Stecklings, again) and watched another amazing firework show at their country club. By this time, my family had already arrived in Utah, and we had already finished our one hour of boating due to basically totaling that lime green beauty.
{my little brothers are huge. tear.}

 {kisses for Shayn}

Then I took my family to the Olympic Park in Park City, which is where my summer job is. I got them all free passes to ride the alpine slide, zip-line, and do the ropes course.

And here are some boating pics...

 {me gettin airrr}

{Daniel's a freak!}

Hope everyone had a happy 4th! Sorry for the millions of pictchas!

California lovin

Life has been busy this Summer to say the least. Daniel and I have both been working non-stop (especially Daniel). Luckily we were able to take a little break from it all and head to California for 10 days. Last year we started a new family tradition (or at least I hope it becomes a tradition) to stay at the Huntington Beach Hyatt Regency Resort. It's such a fun place to hang out with pools, watersides, and just across the street from the beach. But more importantly, I just love being all together with my family.   Here are some pictures from this year's trip:

We did some paddle boarding...

some ice blocking haha...

lots of beaching...

and swimming..

some bacci ball...

...and of course our morning workout.

California was a blast! Thanks for reading :)
